Hello,
I've been trying to run The Devil Inside on Windows 11, but I cannot get it to run.
I downloaded it from REMOVED (will add a link if it's permitted). The installer sets the game up with DxWnd and installs NGlide as well.
In the comments of the download page, someone mentioned that they got better results with the game using DGVoodoo, and I was told by someone that dgVoodoo works as a better alternative to DxWnd. I've downloaded dgVoodoo, and added dgVoodooCPL.exe, dgVoodoo.conf, and the .dlls to the game folder (D3D8, D3Dlmm, DDraw). However, the game still does not start.
What happens when I do try to run the game, the whole screen will turn white as the game tries to run and then it closes. This is despite changing settings in DxWnd and dgVoodoo so that the game will run in a window. I've tried removing the profile from DxWnd and uninstalling Nglide to see if they were conflicting, but I've had no success. I've tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling it a few times because I lost track of what changes I had made, and so I wanted to start from scratch.
Some things to note that may or may not help:
- I'm using a dual-monitor setup (one is 2560x1440(primary display), the other is 1920x1080 (secondary display)), so that could be causing a conflict.
- I've got a NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti, and I have the GeForce Experience in-game overlay running, so that might also be a conflict.
- I have been able to get the game to run on my other computer, which is running Windows 10 (I made no changes, I just ran the installer and it worked). I have to test it again to see if it still works. However, it makes me wonder if the problem has to do with some change between Win10 and Win11.
I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what the issue might be. If needed, I can do another reinstall and walk through the process and share screenshots to see what I might be doing wrong.
