I'm refering to strife under DOS, is there some way to upscale it or a source port that works under DOS?

Is this going to be a thing where every couple of months you ask if there is a way to run x doom engine game at 640x480 in DOS? Wouldn't you be better off asking such questions on forums dedicated to doom engine games, such as doomworld and the like? The responses you receive in this thread are likely to be similar to the last threads except with less info. If you insist on continuing these posts here then consolidate them into one thread with more explanation on the hardware and software you are using. Thanks.
The closest is Vavoom and that's drastically different with how it renders as it's a quake renderer that cared enough to make DOS builds. Svstrife and others didn't have DOS ports (and Strife was only reverse-engineered long after Legacy suspended development). DOS porting was not a popular thing to do in the greater Doom source port scene of the 00s+ (especially when that's in conflict with resource-intensive new standards of scripted behavior interpreters), so you'll mostly get apathy about it.
vavoom support strife but i never tested dos port with this game
https://sourceforge.net/projects/vavoom/files … aster&download=
anyways, strife is 320x200 then correct resolution will be 320x400 or 640x400, not 640x480

I tested vavoom+strife and is working fine in my 486, unplug joystick just to be sure the error is not because that

well it was that, it works now! but is a pity that the movement is all screwed, it jumps up and down when you move, i don't know if it is a problem of vavoom or what =(

Not here, movement if fine. I did not test mouse, only keyboard

i noticed that this problem appears if i set the option ''CD music'' to off, it starts playing the midi music instead but now all the movement of the character is faster and jumping, i forgot to say that i'm on retroarch
so i have to play the game without music, so weird problem 🤣
And that's what's been confusing me - with retroarch you do have ways to upscale, and aspect correct, and play the original game with music (sorry, no idea if original game had CD music) and no jerky movement and even without unplugging joystick.
Now, I appreciate vavoom gives you screen buffer image rendered in more detail, but pardon me, your retroarch will still apply its scaling routines and I doubt there's much difference in what you be getting anyway post that, as compared to the original game, vavoom renderer deviations @leileilol hinted at set aside of course.
I.e. not that running an old game in more detailed resolution is an uninteresting topic to discuss, but in my opinion this topic has not that much to do with what you are trying to achieve, that being enjoying this game on a modern system in an emulator. But, yeah, its up to you of course.

seems that the game never had cd audio tracks but vavoom have that option available

but retroarch can't add more resolution to the games, i use a shader (scalefx-aa-fast) that really improves the image but when there's a very low resolution and lots of colors and things in the screen it looks super bad, in 640x480 is totally other thing:
wtf, dos port and retroarch ???
