Recently picked up a Thrustmaster Combat Gear set. The box was opened, but it looks like it's new old stock. The set comes with a "Top Gun" joystick and an "Attack" throttle. Too bad it didn't come with pedals.

The joystick is fairly small, but it feels well built. It feels a lot stiffer than any other joystick I own, which I prefer. It also has a rubber part where the joystick meets the base, which feels like it could inhibit the range of motion a bit. It's hard to describe, but you have to use a bit more force to move the joystick at the ends of the axes. It doesn't really have an abrupt limit at the end of the range like other joysticks I own. Rather, the rubber starts compressing at the ends and you have to push harder into the rubber to make it move a little further. I haven't plugged it in yet, so I don't know if this would be a problem and if it could be addressed by calibrating the joystick with a less extreme range of motion.

There's not much to say about the throttle, except that it feels a little more plasticky than the joystick. Not a big deal to me though.

The set also comes with Eidos's Joint Strike Fighter. I'm more into WWII flight sims, so I've never played it. Interestingly, I read in a review https://www.combatsim.com/review.php?id=317 that it was made by a demoscene group who developed an advanced terrain rendering technique.
