I have obtained a couple of Toshiba portables recently. A Portege 300CT, Satellite Pro 440CDX, and a T4500C.

The 440CDX is missing the bracket that the HDD sits on. It can still be used without it, but getting the HDD aligned with the pins in the back of the cavity is a real mission.

I'm sure I could 3D print something to make my life easier, so I was wondering if anyone with the same laptop (or same family even? 400-series, or at least other 440CXX models I would guess) could take some photos and measurements of the HDD sled/bracket so I can recreate the missing part.

Any help is much appreciated!

I was thinking since so many of that model are now not functioning that the parts like the HDD tray should be easy to find but nope, they're really not.

I'm in CAD mode making a couple of replacement parts for my Toshiba Satellite 4300 - and I've got some of the hard drive trays within arms reach along with the calipers, so here's my take on the design using my quite accurate cf card adapter for the hole patterns. Give it a go it should work I think 😀
It's re-designed for FDM 3d printing instead of sheet metal with no walls less than 1mm thick, the large flat bottom part is supposed to be on the print-bed and supports need to be enabled to get that handle printed

Since I'm just using the free thinger of fusion 360 I can only export STL files rather than step or directly editable CAD formats, if you want to make your own version then you can use the measurements to tweak it but hopefully it'll work for you

This tray type should fit all these different models:
Toshiba Satellite 220cs, Satellite 220cds, Satellite 225cds, Satellite 230cx, Satellite 440cdt, Satellite 440cdx, Satellite 445cdt, Satellite 445cdx, Satellite 465cdx, Satellite 460cdt, Satellite 460cdx, Satellite 470cdt, Satellite 480cdt and lastly the Satellite 490CDT

Sure, here's the file for that adapter - it works very well in most computers I've used it in:

I usually print it with 0.2 or 0.3mm layer height. Once it's printed, you can flex the plastic up from the bottom 'X' to fit the CF adapter in and it should then clip into place, completely flat against that ridge at the end of the CF-card slot
