I've been reading that 95 has memory problems in certain cases when using a PPro or P2, and that apparently USB supplement 1216 (which ships with OSR2.5) fixes it.
I can find nothing official from MS about that supplement containing the memory fix. The KB article simply says to use Windows 98. https://web.archive.org/web/20140904184423/ht … t.com/kb/179897
Was this discovered by users? Does anyone know exactly what the conditions for the problem to occur are (besides the generic "insufficient memory")? I might run a few tests with and without the update.
EDIT:
Alright, found some stuff.

They did mention it in OSR2.5's KB. They also mentioned the updated vmm.vxd files in the memory management KB but later deleted that part.
I haven't experienced this issue and thought I'd check my copy of VMM.VXD:
VMM.VXD version 4.00.1113
(it matches what is described in the other article as the fixed version of the file for OSR2)
This is on a system on which I substituted USBSUPP and USBUPD updates with XUSBSUPP which incorporates both of these updates, as well as a tray utility for ejecting USB mass storage devices. My guess is that rather than hunting for the particular revision of USBSUPP, people should just download and use XUSBSUPP instead.
Maybe someone else on the forums has actually seen this live? The circumstances for the problem to occur seem like they should be easy enough to reproduce:
...run multiple programs (especially MS-DOS-based programs) on a Windows-based computer that has insufficient system memory (RAM) and contains an Intel Pentium Pro or Pentium II processor
