mac: Apple works 6, Microsoft word and wordperfect 5.1.
The mac is a ppc and with classic for wordperfect 5.1 and various other programs.

I am sure WP has some kind of "Save as ... Text" feature.

Is it with formatting? If not use something like "ascii text" or "plain text".

Formatted text is when you use Bold, Italics, and the such.

Dammit! We have a thread going on about being polite to newbies, but your posts are so incredible silly that it's very, very hard to not be sarcastic.

THINK, MAN! USE YOUR GODDAMN BRAIN! Look for a format that the source program can export, and the target program can import. Even when trying all available filters, this should take only a few minutes. If you find no match = bad luck.

And, for your kind understanding: TEXT IS TEXT. PICTURES ARE PICTURES (or GRAPHICS IS GRPAPHICS, to be precise). When using, for example, ASCII (which is a "text only" format), there can be no pictures in the resulting file, because TEXT IS TEXT, and NOT PICTURES.

Now, does this get through your thick skull?

I must agree, a lot of his posts are nonetheless incredible silly.

By the way, there is no such thing as WordPerfect 5.1 for Mac.

OK, it's pretty simple: you get the disk (I'm assuming you're using a floppy disk to transfer this file) formatted (set up in a basic way) such that the PC and the Mac will both be able to use it (I don't know how to do that but I do know it's possible, I think you can just read a Windows format with a special Macintosh program), open your file, click File --> Save As... and click the little down-pointing trianlge where it says "Save as type:" and click "Plain Text" or "MS-DOS text", then click the Save button.

also, "format c: /Q" will erase your hard drive if you type it at a DOS prompt and answer Y (yes) when it asks you; text formatting is using bold words, italic words, underlined words, different sizes, different colors, and stuff like that, so he was being sarcastic

ALSO also I'm used to dealing with hyper-über-noobs; I actually tried to explain a lot of stuff about computers to my mom 😦

that being said, The many colours of Windows
seriously!

From the way he talked about it, it sounded like it was older than USB, FireWire, and CD burners, so there would be three options: a floppy disk, a connection through the Internet or a LAN, or a direct cable connection, and for PC and Mac and at that early age, you're pretty much limited to an Ethernet crossover cable or a null modem cable.
I'll give you a moment to stop shuddering at the thought of using a null modem cable. 😈
For that matter, for a direct cable connection, you wouldn't actually need the cable, just a few good quality insulated wires, 8 for Ethernet or 3 to 9 for RS-232; being simple formats, they didn't have any components in the plugs, just conductors.
oh, and I looked around to find out it's called a "crossover cable" because I forgot, and apparently you could also a parallel-to-parallel cable 😵
