Game lagging or running ridicul-ass-ly fast!

Hi. I'm trying to run The Elder Scrolls 1: Arena on my pc (really new) with Vista 64-bit, and it was lagging. So it pressed CTRL-F12 a few times, and now it's too fast. I can't seem to find a point where it is at the right speed. Is there some fix/CONF setting I can use? I'm not sure where to post this because I haven't tried any other games besides Arena.

Try typing cycles=max, then start Arena

Yeah, I tried that, and now I walk at like 30 MPH. Way too fast 😲

You know, if don't tell us what settings you use how can we help you? What core are you using, normal / dynamic / auto? How many cycles are you trying? What frameskip are you using?
