I was wondering if anyone plays any of the Keen mods on their DOS/95/98 computers? I really feel like Ceilick's finale to the series is a REAL Keen game.

I've played 7 and 8, but 9 "Battle of the Brains" of course has memory issues. In DOS 6.22, it crashes whether the music/sound is on or off. In Windows 98 (same PC) it simply says "not enough memory for background music", which, doesn't show up if the music is off. Playable, but trying to force the old PC(s) to run it seems like a challenge. ESPICALLY since while testing versions, I "ran out of memory" and came across this:

Wanted to make a quick follow up on myself here. I've tried running "Keen9" on my Compaq now, since it has memory to spare and still no-go. I've never seen so much free conventional memory before AND all the drivers are loaded. 623K just to TRY to get something going here, 🤣 Normally it has 615k free and I was hoping to squeeze a few ks to make it work. Garg. Back to the emulator for now...

I don't have a PC like that but the game works under DOS 7.1 in 86box. I don't think that's a memory issue. Maybe some other parameters in config.sys need to be adjusted. I'm using a boot menu though, with separate win and dos options.
