Just got my own one of these Soltek SL-75KAV boards, its been recapped already too, might try out that Barton bios with the 3000 XP-M.

Might take a while to get here though but I have bought from this seller before a number of times so I know they are reliable.

Do you happen to know where one might get this .. evaluation BIOS from ? the latest I see is the 2003 Q12 one. .. never mind me .. should learn to RTFM.

Also should learn to look at images from the seller .. its already got the Q12 Ev bios installed.

Note that you will need Auzentech's special driver pack for it or function or one of the community repacks which support it. You can't use Creative's own driver pack with it.

Its the X2 ADA4800DAA6CD Toledo version which was the last non FX 64 X2 CPU for the 939 platform so it was worth grabbing and saving from the gold scrappers.

Sometimes you get lucky and other times you get shit sniped out from under you ...god I hate auction snipers, honestly didn't even know that the XP-M 3000 was rare, I made sure it worked and put it in my CPU box then stupidly forgot I even had it.

Didn't the 4800+ sell for something like 1000 USD ? I mean I have bought some pricey CPUs like the 10980XE but even that didn't cost 1K USD. (Wikipedia has it listed at 1001 USD but not sure if that's accurate)

That exploded when I tried to power it on a last year. Was extremely lucky it didn’t take the CPU with it. The CPU is now sitting in a ABIT Fatal1ty AN8 SLI with a Guru Panel. It’s running 2x 8600GTs. I can’t afford to put something more period correct in it 😛

2 min noodles ...having been on the bad end of not having money I cannot eat chicken ones any more, at the time I was living on them because I couldn't afford anything else .

Just the smell of chicken noodles now makes me gag.

Rice (and any meal with rice in it) is what I can't take anymore. After being on a diet of rice I'm legitimately sick of it.

Back on topic, the Soltek is here! It looks a bit more dire than expected (that SDR slot's hooks are too far gone to get any plastic latches in there.) but it POST'd fine with a XP 2200+. It's been recapped quite poorly with Licons, Choyo and suspicious date Nichicon HMs. And two lone Rubycon MBZ previously, but it POSTs.

Leftside is my QDI KinetiZ 7B. Known for its peculiar UDMA100 concurrence bug.

Bah, who really needs meat and 3 veg? Retro hardware is so much more important, and buying the latest high end hardware even more! 😀

There is also a K8 based 3000+ XP-M on socket 754 that are absolutely not a K7 Athlons but rebranded K8 Semprons.
Just to make the online search harder.

You can also get an Opteron 180 = 4800+ X2 they usual have better silicon and can be had for about 50$

That was my first modem. Macintosh version too. There's a small part of me that wants one of those modems.

My Mac’s don’t need a dial up modem.
