which version of dosbox.

How to ask questions the smart way!
Oh whoops. Its Dosbox .72? I just got it..and the game is Descent. I didnt really configure dosbox..I just dragged the bin file of Descent into Dosbox..and it launched it. It plays fine in a windowed mode..but because I have my pc hooked up to my 47''..I would much rather play it in full screen mode.
Descent 1?
And please, don't just drag the EXE on DOSBox. It might work with simple games, but most games needs to be properly installed *inside* DOSBox.
I have Descent 1, but I don't remember playing it in fullscreen mode. I will have to test it later.
If that doesn't help, come back with details on how you mounted your C and D drives, how you did the install, how you configured sound, music etc.

I installed it in Dosbox..but all I get is the Star Trek video demo..and thats it. I guess I'll just have to play it in windowed mode...
Try playing with the scaler/resolution settings of the preference file.
Under windows it rarely happens with bad/old graphics drivers or
disabled/lowered graphics hardware acceleration.
I tried editing the conf file, but when I go to save, it says "cannot create the dosbox.conf file. Make sure that the path and file name are correct" What gives?
vista?
Descent may not like autocycles so much
1+1=10
Yes, my OS is Vista 32 bit. Can somebody see if they can run Descent in full screen? And remember, it does not lag until I either get hit, or pick up an item or hostage..and then it just lags horribly for like 10 seconds...
Problem modifying dosbox.conf file
You may not have rights to edit that file, add rights or login as the admin.

Seems to work fine for me with the setup provided in the attached Zip-archive.

How exactly do I use that setup? I'm a noob to this!
Extract the archive into some folder, e.g. Descent-1.
Open the dosbox.conf file in Notepad, and edit the lines where it says:
rem mount D "D:\" -t cdrom
imgmount D "G:\Spool\...........
Unless you have made an image of the Descent CD, simply delete the imgmount line.
If you have the Descent CD, remove the rem(ark) in front of the mount and put in the drive-letter of your CD, e.g.:
mount D "X:\" -t cdrom
where X is your real CD-letter.
Save the modified dosbox.conf, and double-click on the Run.cmd file.
