This may sound stupid so I am asking for your opinion.

Do you think it's necessary to defragment USB pendrives? I say it because there is no moving parts/heads here, so file fragmentation shouldn't pose a speed/access issue.

Not necessary. In fact as Qbix wrote, it will do more harm.

The flash memory controller keeps a "scorecard" of how often each memory-block has been written to and tries to even-out the number of writes by constantly re-allocating blocks on writes.
