Hi!

Am I allowed to post this on the sub forum ?
I dont know where to put this :p

The idea is to create a gateway/search engine like google or yahoo directory for retro machines to connect to the internet
I know there are already wonderful sites like https://wiby.me/ that redirect you to "vintage" websites that are still up

But the idea was to go further

To have a search engine that point you to websites that exclusively work with html or early forms of javascript etc and render properly on old browsers
An internet withing the internet where browsers like netscape, internet explorer or even Mosaic can work

We are not concerned with stupid modern "security" we have nothing to hide on out retro machines and if the http connection is not encrypted who cares? we lived like that for decades

Inside that gateway there would only be old websites that are http friendly like craiglist and a handful of modern websites .. maybe vogons?
But there would also be NEW websites created by enthusiasts that can deliver content that easily rendered on 3x4 screens and lower resolutions/colors
The purpose of this is for enthusiasts that finally connect say their windows 95 machine to the internet dont go to google and find out that webpage after webpage after webpage dont work

I think that any computer from windows 3.1 on can display - images - text - low rez video - forms - primitive CSS formatting
And this pillars are more than enough to have a great online experience

the internet is a human right, the internet is not "theirs" we can do with our internet whatever we so please

Please comment on this

For many years I also have thoughts on what I would call "RetroNet", but don't have precise ideas for that. https://wiby.me/ is a good starting point and it also works w/o TLS (http://wiby.me/).

I don't agree with you when you talk about "stupid modern "security"". Connections should be encrypted, if possible. My website f.e. is reachable via https:// and via http://, with HSTS it should be possible to force encryption for browsers supporting it, but don't have implemented it by now.

kind regards

Unfortunately, all of our ISPs all have the same TOS, which say that we are allowed to consume and nothing more.

then we start a retro internet with long wave radio waves or thought-the-earth seismic t-waves
having started with a 2400 baud modem I dont mind the slow
