IIRC they had promoted a similar giveaway last year or so but failed to realize when the date came.
Bit like lives in a vault promised by Vault-Tec commercials.
Yeah, Epic Store has new free games every couple of weeks. Sadly, most of them are not "older" games, but some do indeed crop up from time to time, or "retro" games. Either way I check the Epic store often.
I noticed the "Fallout Collection" coming up. I may already own DRM free copies from GoG, and have it over on Steam, but I'll get it on Epic too. You can't beat free. 😀

Got 1 & 2 in physical copies, 3 & New Vegas on Epic, Shelter on Steam, and London on GOG (but I don't have 4 yet 😜).

Sadly, I got rid of almost all my physical copies a long time ago to save space, though I did rip a good number the games before and still have most of those images, including Fallout 1 and 2. 😀
I still have my Fallout 3 GOTY edition and New Vegas hard copies, but that's it.
Fallout 4 and 76 is only on Steam for me. I have London on GoG downloaded but have yet to play it, I still have to install it on my Steam copy of 4.
On a side note, my wife and I play Fallout 76 together and have over 6000 hours in it so far between the two of us. I'm a bit over 3500 hours and my wife is at about 2500. It's the only "MMO" game we play. I figured it may as well be a franchise that I really enjoy.

I still have all physical copies. Including Fallout Tactics. I remember playing the demo a lot, and later on I bought the boxed game.
Just a quick reminder. The free offer is currently active, only until September 5th, over on the Epic Game Launcher if you don't already own a copy of these amazing classics!
Or, if you're like me, and just adding one more copy. Free is a great price after all. 😜

I picked it up today! Might be the first time I remember anything.
Also i had a look in my epic games library and realize it is full of cool games i prolly never will play. Like Tropico 5 (or 6) and that walking simulator with the main character looking like that zombie series "the walking dead". Kind of sad.
I actually never played the og falllout games for some reason but I will at some point now that i have them... I think!

I loved the OG ones, then when Fallout 3 dropped, it blew my mind at the time. 😜
If I'm being truthful, the only reason I even have the Epic Launcher installed is because they give away so my games. It says I have 188 games, I haven't paid for a single one, and like you, I will likely only ever play a few of them. That also means if they ever close it up, since they are all free games, I'm not really out anything. So, I see it as a win win. 🤣
