Hi
I tested several dozen Voodoo2 in the 3DMark99, and I always see strange effects.
I don't understand why this is.
It only appears on Voodoo2 of any manufacturer.

So you've tested every single brand of the Voodoo2 card in existing? You have to provide more information, also a photo of the card can help.

Which version of 3Dmark99 did you use?
Frame buffer? Resolution?

I can run my Creative Labs V2 with 3Dmark99 max without problems.
The non-max version does tend to have issues with many older 3d cards.

Try using only official 3dfx drivers instead of FastVoodoo

3dfx Voodoo2 V3.02.02, latest reference Driver
2 х Voodoo2 12MB SLI
800*600; 1024*768 - no changes compared to the driver FastVoodoo 2 4.6
I tried to speed up it to 100 MHz and slow it down to 85MHz - also unchanged

What refresh rate are You running at? That's the effect You would get on a crt if It is out of sync. Maybe try setting the monitor driver as LCD not CRT.
Try 60hz if not already at that frequency.

Atari 2600, TI994a, Vic20, c64, ZX Spectrum 128, Amstrad CPC464, Atari 65XE, Commodore Plus/4, Amiga 500

The image in 3Mark99 is mainly formed by Voodoo, and only when passing the "Synthetic CPU 3D Speed" test is it formed by the 2D video card, Voodoo is inactive. This effect, like "line failure", occurs when switching from the 2D video card to Voodoo, which begins to form the image of the "Fill Rate" test.
But I do not know how to set the frame refresh rate for Voodoo in 3DMark99.
For the 2D video card (S3Trio64V2/DX) I set the refresh rate to 60 Hz. No changes.

Have you been any further in identifying the reason?
I have this issue on 2 V2, exact same. All games just run fine, I have no problems at all.

With a S3 Virge and single buffer, I get flickering.

Yes, when testing a large number of Voodoo2, I noticed that this effect occurs only on Voodoo2 with DAC ICS5342-3. On Voodoo2 with DAC TVP3409, this effect does not occur. Probably, these DACs have some differences in the internal architecture.

Regarding the image quality in Single/Double/Triple buffer. The worst is "single buffer", the best is "triple buffer". Choose "double buffer" or "triple buffer" - and the picture will become more beautiful.

Mine are both ICS. This confirms.
Could be that TVP is also a better performer than ICS?
Maybe the ICS needs some extra code lines to operate correctly at "single"? This is a hard one for professionals to dive into. Anyway all the games I've tried work 100%.
