In some games like Wolfenstein 3D, SimAnt, and Lemmings, DOSBox will switch colour palettes into undesirable sets on fullscreen mode.

I was able to somehow fix Wolfenstein 3D by using a new configuration file a while ago (I don't remember though). SimAnt sometimes does it still. Lemmings started after I actually used the password system.

I have a feelings it has to do with loading though that doesn't explain Wolf-3D. All three games are in VGA but VGA games usually work fine under DOSBox.

Help will be greatly appreciated. It isn't really too big of a problem, it's just annoying and Windowed mode under Windows XP doesn't appear to have a good enough palette to display the games clearly (or brightly) enough.

Please help, and thanks in advanced.

well I wouldn't claim a bug as the forum isn't filled with reports that dosbox fullscreen support is broken.
have you tried ddraw as output method ?

dosbox suddenly switching it palette to some weird is not caused by dosbox, but usually by different program that runs in the background (dvd or hotkey moniitor programs). Those change the palette. DOSBox only suffers 😉

Thanks guys 😀 I'll keep those things in mind when I set up games and this happens. It doesn't always happen. I guess a good estimate would be around 1% to 15% of the time mostly, depending on the game. Currently Lemmings is running smoothly. Lemmings 2 had the same problem once after I set it up today, but it fixed itself after being reopened.

SimAnt it always happens to so I'll try setting it up with these things in mind.

Thanks again.

Sorry about taking so long guys.

I'm not sure what you mean about the graphics drivers, wd, but I've got the latest version of DirectX that my machine can handle. I closed all nonsystem TSR's and unfortunately no fix.

So I tried ddraw like you said, Qbix, and that did the trick.

Thanks again Qbix and wd.
