Picked up a nice GeForce 256 SDR for 30$ at a recycling center. 👍 Feeling 😁

Bought another mainboard - a MSI MS-6163 REV 1.
Not much fancy going on unlike its other revisions, but I personally dig the onscreen HW monitor during POST and the Host Clock notice.

440BX boards are always worthwhile acquisitions!
After a K7 board, indeed it is. Oh, and the K7 board I got is also MSI 😀 (K7 Pro, MS-6195 IR3)

EDIT: Tried and none work. Both flash utilities for Creative and Gainward (the latter being just standard 3dfx flash utility) report no Banshee cards present.

Might give you some ideas. They're similar cards.
I had a dead v2 that was ultimately a couple of dead ferrites
Things I built:
Mechwarrior 2 installer for Windows 10/11 Re: A comprehensive guide to install and play MechWarrior 2 on new versions on Windows.
Dos+Windows 3.11 auto-install iso template (for vmware)
Script to backup Win9x\ME drivers from a working install
I just ordered a GTX 480 from the bay. I'm going to try to upgrade my vanilla Windows 2000 overkill machine (Xeon E3-1280v2) from its current GTX 285. The GTX 480 should provide a 15-60% uplift in graphics performance depending on the application.
I found these two at a thrift store. Don't know how good there are:

I'm surprised that the sound card's packaging doesn't highlight the integrated wavetable synth. I found another picture of your card, and it looks like the same wavetable that's on my Opti 930 ISA sound card.

So far it already boiled down to having to program the BIOS chips externally. I did check the SMDs surrounding them and all of them are intact. (in fact, the only damage these received were far away from the BIOS IC)

Great sound card... very modern for ISA, and works as a retro display piece
Compaq motherboard arrived few days ago. 486, with possible 3.3V support and cache slot. Chipset is VLSI 483.
Cheers,
Great Northern aka Canada.
So far these mainboards have found their way to me in the last few weeks... with two more to come from the bay (and a TNT2 Pro, but that's another story.)
- DFI CS32-TC w/ dead Realtek soundchip (not that it matters since I would drop a SB Audigy or Live card in it anyways, btw Tualatin support go brr)
- MSI MS-6195 IR3 (K7 Pro)
- MSI MS-6163 BX3
- Gigabyte GA-7VR
- DTK PRM-0076I E1
- MSI MS-6168 ZX14 (Voodoo 3 2000)
- Fastfame 9VAAV (w/ V3 2000 16MB AGP bundled!)
From the bay:
- ABIT BX6 R2.0
- ABIT KR7A
(GPU) - MSI MS-8806 (MEDION OEM) Riva TNT2 Pro
Might plan on getting a 7DXE+ and maybe an Iwill.

I'm impressed they were even in thrift store!
Also got a descent deal on a 5900 Ultra from the "Bay" always wanted to get a reference version in the collection.

I'm on a roll!

Really enjoy reading about your finds. Any chance you have a catalog of your collection or at least the specs on the machines you’ve built? 😀

Y'know, I really never thought about that. I should make a list sometime and put it up.
Oh, I almost forgot adding to that list, an Audigy 2 ZS. Unfortunately it's very likely a HP OEM, given I saw the 0359 tag somewhere on the back.

I’ll send you my list for inspiration.
And your signature probably needs an update 😉
Well for the ones that remember a while back i was bidding on a X850XT-PE (PCIE) and let off at 120 or so. There's a turn of events. I got one for FREE! ... caveat is that it doesn't display video. I paid shipping + a few bucks extra for the sellers time. The seller presumably also tried a few different options and ultimately decided to it wasn't worth the time or effort.
I looks rough and the fan is LOUD .. i remember it being loud but not that much. But the board doesn't seem to have any damage and doesn't look mishandled .. just very dusty.
Well initial test in 2 different boards of different generations ... indeed no video. However in one the fan spun 100% all the time and in the other it went to idle after the initial ramp-up. So there is at least some life in the card.
Then (since the other boards didn't crap out because of the card) i risked putting it into my main/current ryzen pc. And what do you know ... IT POSTS and i have video!
No clue as to why this would be .. i was thinking power delivery but then again the other boards had a 620W psu connected so i don't know. I didn't let the system boot into win11 with that card because i already had trouble booting with the normal card (6700XT) after that .. needed several try's and a trip to the bios.
I'm going to test it in my DFI lanparty S939 board next. And give it an initial blowout because you can't even see the fanblades because of the dust.
I would say to inspect the capacitors, but those look like quality polymer capacitors that probably aren't bad. After you got it posting in your new system, did you try it again in an older one to see if it worked? I have had seemingly dead cards spring back to life like this before, even ones with entirely ceramic and tantalum capacitors. I didn't know why it is, but it's like these old cards need a workout to get going again. Or maybe it's oxidation on the contacts that I'm scraping away through repeated insertions.
