Hi all! I used to be big into PS/2's (and Microchannel systems in general) about 20-25 years ago. It's been that long since I last had one (a Model 95 tower). Now I have a very nice and clean Model 57 with the 386slc cached CPU upgrade, so it feels much faster than it probably is. Either way, I have it running DOS 6.22 nicely, but running into issues getting Windows 3.11 working. The first install I did was of the IBM OEM version of 3.11. That installed perfectly, but would immediately lock up after the Windows splash screen. No amount of trying options, playing around with the system.ini or anything else got it to start. I then deleted that and started over with the vanilla 'retail/oem' version of 3.11 (and WFW 3.11) which again installed perfectly. This time it displays the splash screen, but then immediately reboots the entire computer. It just does this over and over every time I attempt to run Windows.

This is how far I can get, and I know MCA systems can run Windows just fine. The system is all configured properly with the IML system partition on the HDD and latest reference disk and utilities.

Thanks for any help here!

1. Clean the RAM slots.
2. Try different modules.

You might want to test your RAM with MemTest86 / Memtest86+ as well.
