Hi! I'm back at my mother's house and tried XMGR at the suggestion of someone here. At first, the system locked up just before running SCANDISK. Then I removed the /B switch and got the best I've been getting: Explorer keps crashing by the minute after logging in. I can use DOS to run some programs but need some console-based programs for my work, and the best I can get without EMS are 609k free Conventional RAM and Out of Memory errors even when I run the Command Prompt. Worse yet, I can't get sound in DOS mode. I don't totally need this computer, but I like Win98SE and want to experiment with file compression on it and plan on doing something on it. BTW, I need to look at Device Manager for the sound card information and report it here to ask for help finding a proper device driver. I also want Win 3.1 on it. How do I do that? I'm willing to create either a Start-up menu or a Start-up floppy but don't want to screw up Win98.

The sound card is called SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio.

Nope.
Stop littering the forum with the the same old nonsense, create a subject that relates to the post.
Create a post that isn't gibberish.
Confine the same posts about being at your mother's house (no one cares), compression and the endless issues with the computer to a single thread(s).
