AC/DC - Squealer

I actually heard that on the radio (KRFC). It's nice to find these stations that play something other than the usual corporate iHeart playlists (and KBPI promotes concerts for bands they haven't played in years, like Megadeth earlier this summer). It's also the only station I know of that still plays blues.

I still haven't loaded my phone up with music, and it's probably because I don't feel like buying that many albums when I have so little time to listen to them. It's worse because the music I listen to seems to offend everyone around me. If I'm not driving (with the windows rolled up if I'm in Windsor), I have to use headphones.

I heard this band for the first time the other day on Flashback Alternatives and I instantly liked this song, which is rare for me. They sound like a mix of The Sisters of Mercy and Xymox. Drab Majesty, Long Division.

Rush. Their "Signals" album. Particularly, tracks 7 and 8: Losing It, and Countdown. Losing It is about losing your skills/talents with age. I'm 55 yrs old now, and the song resonates with me today in a way it never did when I listened to this track in my 20s and 30s. Countdown is a song about the first Space Shuttle launch, and all the anticipation, fear and other emotions that everyone watching it felt at that time. It perfectly captures the sensations that so many people felt who were around and experiencing the event.

My favorite part of the Countdown video is at 4:06 with the launch footage of the guy jumping up and down and pumping his fist in the air. It so captures the relief and excitement everyone felt when the Shuttle got off the ground safely.

The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know.

That's really cool clueless1, I like your explanations, brings it to life.

Last night I played a few tracks -

Hound Dog Taylor (once one of my go-tos, still missing one album after 40-odd years...)
ZZ Top (just because it feels good...)
Iggy Pop (Kill City, the only one I bought back then and only then because it was cheap like £1.99, but decades later it's something I listen to often)
Grinderswitch (one track used to be the in-track for a late-night DJ from my teens who played 2 hours reggae and punk back then)

Kill City is still playing in my head today.

Now I want to hear the Jolly Boys again, so many of their covers are better than the original (imho anyway).

Gorgoroth - Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt

I never quite realised how brilliant this album is. It is a great return to form that completely flew under my radar, I am listening to it while driving to and from work. It is an amazing soundtrack for rainy, moody, winter hate..
