Hallo there -

Well I was doing a scan the other day and the DOSBox installer (DOSBox0.72-win32-installer.exe) was reported as a trojan by a a couple of scanners - BitDefender and ClamAV. Nothing else reported it, so I'm 90% sure it's a false positive, but has anybody else had this problem or heard of it?

Any info would be appreciated 😀

Better don't execute it then.
Check your system btw. if it's clean then it's a false alarm. Also be sure
you downloaded the installer from the official homepage.

Yeah it was from DOSBox.com, and a few system scans with various online scanners don't reveal anything. Had a few FPs before so guess this is another one *shrug*

BitDefender and ClamAV are newest versions? Is it the heuristics scanner
or the regular pattern searcher?

I hope you're not running more than one realtime virus scanner on your system.

BitDefender thinks it has a Trojan.Generic.89466. It's the only scanner on VirusTotal that reports anything. I would recommend to not use BitDefender... 😉

Yes, it’s my fault.

Well first it was picked up in Kaspersky Online scanner, so I uploaded them to VirusTotal and this other multi-scanner http://virusscan.jotti.org/

I'm not silly enough to run multiple local or real time scanners at once 😁

Given that it was only a couple of these which found anything and the vast majority didn't, I'm inclined to think it's a false positive, but I thought I'd ask around to see if anybody else noticed this 😀
