gidierre, I already have DOSbox's drive c:\ mounted as oldgames. Here is a screenshot of my DOSbox's screen when I first start DOSbox: it's DOSbox's c:\ drive. And Dominus, I ask you to please trust me and believe me when I say I'm following your guide. I've even printed it out and fastioned the pages together into a book so I'll have it handy when I have to refer to it. Right now I'm looking at Page # 8 of my printout of your guide where you're showing how to install the video driver in windows. I'm looking at your screenshots on the printout (pg 😎 where the top screenshot has "VGA" highlighted, the top middle screenshot has "Other (requires disk provided by a hardware manufacturer)" highlighted, the bottom middle screenshot has "C:\drivers\s3" highlighted, and the bottom screenshot has "s3 864 1.4185 1024x768 64k colors sf" highlighted.

it's c:\win\drivers\s3

not

c:\oldgames\win\drivers\s3

look again at your picture d and what path you give to the drivers as opposed to what my guide says. What is the location of the S3 drivers?

of course you do, I can see it, and I never doubted you are trying hard to set things straight, but I also can see you don't appear to get all the mystic 😉 implications of the mount operation.

Suppose you have your c:\oldgames\luggnagg folder
once c:\oldgames is mounted as c: you want to, no you need to invoke c:\oldgames\luggnagg as
c:\luggnag and nothing more.
Where's oldgames gone ? Où sont les neiges d'antan ?
Oldgames is no more, now. It went visit the Valhalla of mounted directories. It went invisible. What can I tell you ?
Forget it.
c:\luggnag is your point now.

expanding some more on this mount syntax, maybe it helps,
strip the MOUNT thing of its august allure and think of it as an alias to the old dos REN(ame) or SUBST(itute) commands.
(I'm aware I'm risking mandatory death & neverending damnation for saying so 😵 )

Besides, when you go
mount x y
it's y that becomes x anyway. mind you, and not the other way around.

Ok, I tried. Here's a couple of screenshots btw, the s3 driver I downloaded from cnet is called "win31v".

P.S. Dominus, I started Windows and used Program Manager to get into System but couldn't find "oem0.inf" or "oem1.inf" to delete (I read this at the end of your guide where it says to get rid of these 2 items.)

what is inside the win31v folder

Dominus' guide says to use c:\drivers\s3, so WHY DO YOU USE ANYTHING DIFFERENT AGAIN?

I'll close this thread if you'll contine to not stick to the guide. Maybe you should
simply not run windows inside dosbox.

Ok, ok, I'm trying my best to follow his guide. I'm a complete newbie when it comes to using DOSbox. Here's screenshots showing
my latest attempts. Dominus, I read where you said at the end of your guide to delete the oem0.inf and the oem1.inf files from my Windows 3.xx system, so I went via Window's Program Manager into System but couldn't find "oem0.inf" and/or "oem1.inf" but I did find "8514oem.fon" and "vgaoem.fon". What about these files?

Here's the "obeying Dominus's guide" screenshot. I forgot to submit it. I thought I did, but somehow missed it.

they're font files.

I'm done with you. Obviously you are just rolling this forum to see how far you can drive us. You are the reason people here are often so short (and maybe rude) with newbies.
WHY DID YOU DOWNLOAD ANY OTHER DRIVER THAN THE ONE LINKED TO IN THE GUIDE?
My last advice since I'm now no longer watching this thread, delete everything you've done so far and start fresh and this time FOLLOW THE GUIDE TO THE LETTER!!! All your problems (apart from not understanding the mount magic) stems from not following the guide. ALL of them.
Have fun and don't ask me for more help, I'm done.

ok, fine with me. But I got SB16 and Ibmjoy (sound and joystick drivers) installed ok, with no trouble at all. Maybe my nephew will be able to help me with the video driver when he comes for a visit.

Or: stick to the guide (extracting the files where it says, nowhere else). But well.
