Like I said, G71s have bad BGA underfill and the same most likely applies to G70. Unless severely underpowered and/or cooled way below 60-65C, they are very unreliable.

XPertVision 7900GS pasting was good. 61 degrees max. I drove it only to 549/790 (def 450/660), it goes much more, but it's still warm in the room. CPU is also energy efficient 4GHz / 4C-4T, SMT off, PCIe x4 (restraint).

The rib has coarse brushes, need a good paste.

The 3 body problems cannot be solved, neither for future quantum computers, even for the remainder of the universe. The Proton 2D is circling a planet and stepping back to the quantum size in 11 dimensions.

Let's look at sensors under Win98. That's why the 7900GS is essentially in RyZen.

I'm looking really nervously at my 7900 GTX after reading this topic 😜

More than 256MB of VRAM after applying the NVIDIA BIOS patch from RLoew's kit shouldn't be an issue.

In any case, NVIDIA's 8x.xx drivers for 9x are a huge nuisance:
- Broken uninstaller (unofficial 82.69 drivers have the 7x.xx uninstaller)
- Broken shutdown (patchable)
- Pretty sure they are required for G71 GPUs, G70 GPUs might get lucky with using 7x.xx drivers...
- DDRAW (DirectX 7 and older games) is very buggy, good luck running old NFS games on them (7x.xx also have buggy DDRAW but not as much)

8x.xx drivers are good for Win9x bragging rights in DirectX 8/9 and OpenGL benchmarks and games...but isn't Windows XP better anyways for those?

So I would choose G70 GPUs for 9x...even though I only own 7900 GTX 😜

Didn't try 7800/7900 much, but I know that even native GeForce 6800 AGP, which has access to the oldest Win9x drivers, will have issues with Gouraud shading of monocolored textures.

I assume you are talking about 61.76 drivers? Those seem to be the oldest Win9x drivers for 6800 series GPUs. Are 6x.xx drivers not safe either? What a mess...and people kept complaining about ATI drivers because muh OpenGL performance 🙁

I think I've tried 66.94. But yeah, there are some issues.
