One more noobie question, i`m newly went to this hobby of mine and i`m having hard time finding these.

I will replace PSU on my Pentium 3 configuration with something more silent and stable, but every new awesome PSU i find they mostly have different cables that i need to connect floppy, motherboard and (P)ATA HDDs.

Are there conversion adapter cables for modern PSU`s maybe out there which i can purchase?

For example SATA to PATA etc?

I`m very bad at finding anything suitable if that things existed on the internet so far. I would need some help please. 😀

Yeah plenty of adapter cables, usually cheap enough. Like the floppy bracket I usually get mine from amazon.
here's an example: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BQFKTG7 SATA power to molex

I/O, I/O,
It's off to disk I go,
With a bit and a byte
And a read and a write,

I cant seems to find any. I`m pretty noobish in this ,can you tell me what to type to search please?

My motherboard is DFI CA64-TC, and i have only floppy, CD reader, two (P)ATA HDDs.

Oh ok thanks, i will need to investigate into numbers of pins and stuff to find a right ones. I`m new into terminology, terms about these old machines and connections. Thats why it confuses me a lot which are the right one. 😀
I guess i must examine my motherboard more closely and read a manual further just in case to check each connection.

(copied from post where i answered by mistake, 🤣 )

The common answer to your recent questions is StarTech. They sell a number of different internal power cables, have look through to see which ones you need. E.g. there are also SATA to 2 Molex, SATA to Molex and floppy power, etc. At least it'll give you some search terms when looking for them locally.

Depending on how many PC's your anting to do an alternative is modular PSU's.
For example you install a PSU in your modern rig.
Then for your retro rig you can replace the SATA power cables with the old style Molex cables from the Moden rig.

I was using Corsair myself but even though they list 20 +4 motherboard connecter it no longer has the split meaning I've only a limited number of connectors suitable for retro systems

On Discord there's been some talk of certain SATA-Molex cables being incredibly poor quality and shorting out (and burning) in their machines. I can't remember whether they were Molex to SATA or SATA to Molex though, but the warning applies regardless. Molex-to-anything tends to last like three or four connections to me before the unsupported male molex falls apart in your hand. At that point I just splice on the desired connector (usually floppy) onto the power supply wires (cutting off one of the enormous number of sata connectors).

I've always very carefully picked a non-modular power supply. Some with at least two molex still seem pretty abundant. Floppy is getting hard to find though.

That rings a bell, it's actually the moulded SATA power end that can potentially short out and catch fire, see this thread https://forums.unraid.net/topic/87335-sata-po … le-caught-fire/. Unfortunately it looks like the StarTech cables all use moulded SATA power plugs and most of the generic ones on sale at auction sites are the same.

SATA power splitter or converter cables with crimped connectors are quite rare though.

Yep that's correct, see here as well for an example picture showing the issue: Re: Power supply for 6800 Ultra OC AGP?

The particular adapters that I linked to above from amazon haven't caught fire, and they've been in use for a few weeks. It's anecdotal I know, but one data point to keep in mind.

Then it would be pretty tough finding good cables for me since i can order only via ebay, ali express or temu. Amazon simply is not covered for my country.
