Yeah I would. As I said, when I opened this I thought it was ok and that something else must be the cause of the fault, but it was only when I got the motherboard out and looked underneath very carefully that I could see the damage. Nothing like the kind of obvious battery leak I've seen elsewhere.

The Satellite 300 to 335 models also contain those leaky NiMH batteries but where they leak affects a less easily damaged lot of traces. Looks like I took some pictures of it a while back: Re: The quest for the perfect retro laptop: a saga
So you should disconnect / remove those batteries that plug in near the audio jacks, then clean the area with isopropyl alcohol and a brush.
The Satellite 300 series are less affected though, I've found they can have quite a bit of battery damage in that area and still run just fine. The Satellite Pro 440 to 480 laptops are an exception, they have some weak traces in the area that can break even with barely visible battery damage.
nice! thanks for the replies guys, good to know if they have leaked on the CDT330 damage should be minimal, i havent taken it out of its case and powered it on in about 6 years or so, at the time it turned on ok, i got it from my grandad who got it new sometime around 1997, i used to use it as a kid to play heretic and red alert when we went on holiday so i have some attachment to it, its got a couple of other problems i'd like to get fixed as well, when i got it i wiped the hdd to re-install a fresh Os, then i found the laser unit doesnt move back and forth though the disc does spin, i was gonna replace the drive as there were a load on ebay at the time, now they are harder to find so i might have to try repair it, hopefully its an easy fix, the other problem is a watermark down the left side of the screen where my grandad used to take it on his boat, it looks like he had it in the dinghy and the carry case soaked up some water on one side, luckily it must have been fresh water, if it was salt this thing would have fried long ago, so a replacement panel is the only option for that.
also i saw your post on the network adapter mod, i think ill do the same when i get everything fixed, not sure what model the adapter is as theres only one sticker with some numbers on it, i remember my grandad had an adapter cable to plug it into his Ericsson GF 768 flip phone, the only cable he gave me goes to an RJ11, maybe i can change it for an RJ45, instead of soldering to the board.
should have some time near christmas so ill have to get it out and see if i can get it sorted, i've still got all the original setup floppy's and cds so it should make things a bit simpler.
