Heyyyyyyyyyo,
Is it possible to use a 5.25 floppy drives with a 3.5 connector/cable or do you need an adapter? I'm asking because I'm thinking about getting one and my old pc only has one floppy cable and I have a 3.5 floppy drive connected right now. Any advice or information would be awesome.
Thanks

The older type cable comes with both connectors, for 3.5 and 5,25.

My cable has 2 hdd connectors and one floppy connector. Are you saying mine would work or wouldn't? Or should I get another cable type to use?

What do you mean your cable has 2 hdd and one floppy connector? They can't be both on the same cable.

Okay here's the cable for the 3.5 floppy drive. It has only one connector in it and that goes into my 3.5 floppy drive. Are you saying I can just buy a cable with compatibility for a 5.25 drive or is it more complicated?

The plugs that look like ide connectors have 34 pins, not 40. They go to the stiffy drive (3.5) and the edge connector goes to the floppy (5.25) drive. The connectors after the twist is drive a: and behind the twist drive b:

Not on that one, you get cables with more connectors.

That one is a more modern version for only a single a: stiffy drive, as was popular with pentiums and beyond.

Make sure your motherboard bios supports two floppy drives (A and B), not all do.....

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

If it doesn't I can just use either the 5.25 or 3.5 one at a time right? Like switching out the drive for a different game

Most old systems do though.

If it supports only one, chances are it might not support 1.2 - just check to make sure.

If you do only one at a time, make sure there is a pin connector and an edge connector on the cable after the twist, so that either a floppy or a stiffy drive can be drive a:
