It's also easy enough to strip Steam from DX:HR altogether and make a completely offline stand-alone package you can store away and use at will without Steam.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll give that a shot. This game definitively deserves to be preserved properly. Also, I don't think I can get the DLC for this on Steam, the relevant page doesn't seem to exist anymore. But that's ok, I do have it in the Director's Cut.

And if all else fails, I still have the Xbox360 version which doesn't need an internet connection at all.

They can be unlocked with Steam codes just like the game itself if you happen to run on them in the future on eBay or something. Also some editions of the game included them, you already happened to stumble on this one, maybe you'll also stumble on one of those editions one day.

Though the only nice to have DLC is the Explosive Mission Pack for the Tracer Tong quest, the rest are just extra weapons/items you are better without in my opinion, they just mess with the game/economy balance. Kinda annoying to lock a character from the original Deus Ex behind a damn DLC but that's Square Enix for you.

Yeah, my Limited Edition of DX:HR for the Xbox 360 did come with some DLC codes. I'm guessing there's a similar PC version somewhere.

It is now one need to start collecting Xbox One Games. They are dirt cheap if found second hand as a lot.
Sure 360 and Ps3 are even cheaper, but something tell me, that Xbox One games will become expensive due to not many sold.

....well, compared to Xbox360, Ps3 and Ps4 that is.

If you bought it for all the FIFAs can I have the rest? 🤣

Not that I have an Xbone at the moment but if I scored a nice selection like that cheap it would make it seem almost worth it.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Hehe... Nope.
I hate football. On tv, in real life and in games. I simply hate it to my guts.
The only kind of sports games that I do like, are sim-style motorsport games and then Tennis.
And I am a giant fan of Dead Or Alive series. Speaking of old'er games, then I really need to sit down and try Diablo2 for Xbox One.
I bought it as a download copy some time ago, but I have been gaming Forza Motorsport 4 on Xbox360 lately.
So many games that I have, but not started on. Like I also got a balance board for free, and need to try that Monkey Ball Wii game.

As most of you are probably aware, this Monday the marketplace was shut down for the Xbox 360. For this event, I picked up a couple of games.

Halo: Combat Evolved - is something I already had for PC, but it was cheap so why not.

Wonfenstein - is something I already had for PC, but it's rare and it's never a bad idea to have a duplicate of a rare game.

Army of Two: 40th Day - is a game I had half my eye on fro over 10 years, but all reviewers claimed it's nothing special. But it was cheap so whatever.

I also wanted to get Injustice 1 (which I have the digital version for PC and X360) and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, but those were both German versions and I don't buy German versions unless accidentally.

There are still a way to buy 360 games online and then download the purchase on the 360. But to do so, there are a twist. Also, does not work with OG Xbox games.

I tested this procedure last week, and were able to do it. What you need to do, is to buy a 360 game on Xbox One or Series machines.
Then log into you'r account on a 360, and then open download history. The game should be at the top of that list.

Various thrift store finds from the past month. I've started combing the CD sections of thrift stores, since I'm finding a lot of CD games mixed in with audio CDs, including the copies of NOLF and Painkiller.

Also found a boxed copy of SimCity 4 deluxe edition in decent condition, and a handful of NES games which tend to be rare to find in thrift stores these days.

Meanwhile from Ebay I acquired big box copies of Terminal Velocity and Starflight.

Nice! Back when I looked on eBay I could find plenty of jewel cases of Terminal Velocity, complete with a manual booklet, but fully boxed copies were rare or too expensive for my taste.

I managed to get it via an auction. It still wasn't that cheap, but I ended up being the only bidder.

That Starflight game I believe is a budget re-release , the original release came in a folding sleave. It was the way EA released all their games at that time.

Ah, yes. It happens to me from time to time. Some of these items do not attract interest for whatever reason, or maybe certain auctions slip under the radar of avid collectors somehow. In any case, enjoy!

I think Terminal Velocity has some of the same problems as Doom and Quake, in that some companies took the shareware episode and gave it a fancy CD case or box. I think I've seen a CD case "throw in" version of TV shareware that was "free" with hardware, I am unsure if that was an official one or not.

Yup, I've seen those versions as well. Though I prefer the boxed version, since it sits nicer on the shelf among the other games.

Well, that was a good $10 spent.

Quite literally only missing the registration card. Everything else is there. Sure, it's not the 1989 Godzilla box, but I really can't complain.

Found these two at my local Value Village today so picked them up. Installed the one on my P4 system and it works! The weird thing is, both of these games, while being in English have two large poster size sheets in french.... The Complete Edition came with the manual and the other one didn't.

A search for Jedi Knight and Mysteries of the Sith in separate boxes ended up with me just buying the entire series.

I'll be giving my extra copy of Dark Forces to someone local, same with my collected version of JK/MotS, so I won't even have duplicate boxes. Well, at least until I find a reasonably priced Macintosh version of Dark Forces. Migh as well have every version of the game I have bought about seven times now.

More stuff that I've picked up over the last few months. I had some of these in digital form, but it's always nice to own a physical copy that can be played offline, even if it's a "value" edition.

After upgrading mys computer to play it, I finally bought a copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator...

...1993. Yes, a rather nicely preserved copy of MSFS 5.0 in the nice big box was just something I couldn't say no to.

Congrats! That looks like a great copy of that game. 😀

What's really wild to me is that the modern Flight Simulator has advanced to the point where the game actually looks like the photo on that box.
