The first three games of the Uncle Albert saga (original french title: Oncle Ernest) are well known PITAs in their restrict circle of aficionados. No way to use them on anything newer than XP, excluding VMs.

There's a slight hope to see them supported on ScummVM soon or later (later, probably).

The first game at least stops at a QuickTime issue. Any idea on how to bypass it, so that the focus can be on the real issue?

Exactly, since the QuickTime used (or macromedia director, I don't remember) is not compatible with post-XP OSes, there isn't really much you can do.

I was able to get past the QuickTime by allowing it to install as an administrator 🫡
I went one step ahead, put EmulateHeap and it runs to ask for an MPL file, then errors out. Unwarranted error

The game apparently runs with DxWnd but I haven't got there:

Not sure how but the Italian version of Windows 11, as described in my earlier post, plays the "mTropolis Windows Player" in the exact behaviour as my Windows XP does. Not sure what's so different, it is also reported that the Pentium Edition of MechWarrior 2 is heavily unstable in the Italian Windows while it does much better in the English Windows.

PBA Bowling 2 crashes randomly. Probably some memory error that was ignored in Win9x

I've Got Some Balls faces the similar fate, but on a bigger scale. At least the game has a remake:
https://github.com/thefinalcutbg/IveGotSomeBalls

Extreme Wintersports does something weird to explorer.exe that I have never seen in any other game.

Total Immersion Racing got a message saying, even if I've installed DirectPlay:

DirectX 8.1b must be installed to run the game

This can be run from the game set-up CD.

Are there ways to address this problem or can someone help me hex edit the executable?

Thanks in advance.

My operating system is Windows 10.

I actually tried the 1998 PC release of glover again recently with a 9x system and nVidia 45.23 drivers. The game itself is framelocked to 20FPS but it runs perfectly fine. Settings don't matter, "3DFX Voodoo Chipset" will do, and it doesn't even use glide.

Warrior Reporting....
Another problematic game -a recent one that i'm currently "enjoyng"- is *Monster Jam* (Torus Games/Activision, 2007) which has NO SOUND during races. (The music for the menus runs fine, at the very least though.)
-Apparently there was a patch/fix for that issue floating thorough the web that seems to be MIA for being scanned and treated as malware. Or so i've read....-

I've did it already. To no avail....that is.
BTW I have it updated to v1.01 but it appears to happen on the vanilla build as well.

Hm looks like the sound is consistent here now, I don't know what fixed it after a WinXP compat mode. Maybe try a different FMOD

Can you share the patch?

Sure. I've just posted it @ Google Drive (Originally hosted @ The Patches Scrolls' old & current sites)

https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/my-drive?q … lsier2dH8Uk9PVA

Just copy-and-paste it into the main game folder and run it as administrator.

Wierdly enough, PCGWs entry for this one doesn't mention this glitch..... #Suspicious

The link brings it to your own GDrive, anyways I got it from Patches Scrolls.

The only difference I saw was able to exit the game with Esc key. However the problem still remains "fixed" in my end by whatever tha fixed it

"NBA Power Dunkers for Windows 95 - NBAパワーダンカーズ for Windows 95"

This is a rare Japanese PC port of the Psx game that wasn't found until last year, but it seems to work in nothing:

DxWnd in Windows 10: Crashes / Freezes / Black Screen
Vmware,Virtualbox SoftGPU + Windows 98: Crashes / Freezes / Black Screen
3dfx voodoo + Japanese Windows 95,98 in Pcem,X86Box,Dosbox: Crashes / Freezes / Black Screen

I don't even care about the game, i'm just fascinated why the heck it doesn't run in any setup, it's not a powervr card game, but I wonder if it was coded for a very specific card and if someone feels like debugging why this game is so problematic.

Thanks in advance.

On my Win7, the game hits a single exceptions and crashes. I will check more

Works now:
https://github.com/narzoul/DDrawCompat/issues/415

I was too adamant to try the CD D3DRM.DLL (like most others I think)
