Hi everyone,

When I look at ebay the prices for cables of Voodoo cards are just crazy. For example the loop cable when you connect the VGA to 2 Voodoos and a standard 2D card. Is this really a special cable or can a standard VGA (male) to VGA (female) extension cable work too? Same for the SLI bridge cable. That looks like a very short IDE cable but it probably is not. Does it have a name so I can look for a cheaper version?

Also, I have a Voodoo 2 card which has rust/oxidation on the VGA port. I am not sure if the inner pins are affected too. Is there a way to clean this without hurting the card? I would imaging a very small metal brush for the outside of the VGA connector.

I am planning to build a SLI Voodoo 2 rig but I want to make sure the one "rusty" card is working as good as possible and as rust-less as possible.

Thanks so much in advance. Maybe there is already a topic about this in the forum but I was not able to find it.

For the SLI you can get this one: https://www.serdashop.com/3DVideoBridge
It doesn't have the retro-vintage-rare!!!11! additional value factored in so it is priced reasonably.

For the loop cable, in order for the image quality to degrade the least possible, you need a high quality and short cable. Others will work but with a varying degree of effect on the final result. Not all people are equally sensitive to it though. I use a VGA splitter cable (with one connector hanging unconnected) because I wanted a short cable, others have chosen an extension cable.

The cable for connecting a 2D video card and Voodoo is a primitive 15-20 cm extension cable

The only real way to tackle a rusty connector that you suspect is rusting internally as well, is to replace it. As anyone who has owned a classic car will attest to, rust is insidious, if you don’t get it all, it WILL spread again.

However you could also try a rust converter gel but that would involve a very very thorough cleaning afterwards.
