I'm having an odd issue with midi on the Orpheus 2LT. OPL3 works fine, no issues (windows and dos). But when I try to use the X2GS, I get constant noise/hissing/static in the background. If I turn the music volume down low, all I hear is that noise. Also, when I exit a game, I get a fairly loud 5 second lingering trail of noise. Again, with OPL3, I don't get any of this.

The main game I've been testing this with is Doom (both DOS/Win versions). The system is a Pentium II 400Mhz / Abit BH6 running WIndows 98SE.

very weird, can you test the x2gs on some other soundcard?
this just happened one day or something changed in the system and afterwards you have this issue?

Well I'm dork, I should of checked that first. I just got stuck on it being some type of software/irq issue.

I swapped out the original X2 (X2SE) with one from my vortex 2 system (X2GS) I'm still building and it works great, I'm not getting any of that annoying background noise. Then I tried that (suspicions) X2 with the vortex 2 card and started having the same issues. So there's definitely something wrong with it.

was there any chance the problematic X2GS was inserted wrongly at the wt header at some point?
