Had PPC512 for short time then sold it, but before I sold it, upgraded the ram from 512K to 640K and that was easy to do.

Hi!
I have a Commodore 1084S-P2 monitor that only accepts analog RGB. Would it be possible to use CGA2SCART (connected to one of these, as the monitor lacks SCART port) to hook up my EGA-based XT to the 1084?

Is support CGA/EGA its called RGBi. You dont need the CGASCART Pro

No, the P2 variant of the 1084S that I have does not support digital RGB, only analog. Unfortunately, some later versions of the screen are like that (cost-saving measures)
Thus, my question still stands 😀

Well if it accepts (analog) RGB, yes the CGA2SCART Pro should work just fine. The easiest would be to tap into the RGB+Composite directly on the PCB - by soldering. Then you dont need a SCART to 9Pin DB adapter. You could probably also use the connector you linked to.
Are you sure that the P2 dont have input on the PCB? Maybe they just dropped the external connector to save money.

Excellent, thank you!
Does the pro version let you go composite CGA even without hooking up the actual composite cable to the monitor/adapter?

I have neither skill, nor equipment, nor inclination to solder anything, I'm afraid.
The SCART->RGB cable works great for hooking up my SNES to the 1084S (with first SNES to scart, then scart to RGB via the cable), but of course SNES outputs analog graphics to begin with.

I have no idea, I lack the skill to find out (not to mention doing anything about it, if it is as you say) and I much, much prefer going CGA/EGA->your adapter->Scart to RGB ->monitor.

No this will not give you composite CGA.
If the cable works on other RGB sources with your monitor it will work the the CGA2SCART Pro.

Oh, and the external connector for analog and digital RGB were the same on (most) later 1084S monitors that accepted both. Such monitors instead relied upon a switch to change between digital and analog, and that switch is missing on my P2 (and many other later 1084S-P2 monitors as well). I doubt that the only difference is that they removed the physical button for switching between analog/digital, but kept the internal infrastructure for enabling digital RGB, though I might be wrong.
Ok I got my adapter now.
Unfortunately the enclosure I bought for it only covered the top half of the adapter, leaving the back of the PCB bare.
Other than that, the adapter works great when using a CGA card. When connecting it to my EGA computer however, I get this, even when configuring the EGA Wonder BIOS to boot the computer in CGA mode:
What am I missing?
This is how nice and crisp it looks when I use the adapter and my 1084S-P2 on my CGA computer:
Ok I got it to work now by running Ega Wonder 800+ ESETUP and choosing display type as EGA C80 (rather than CE80).
The problem now is that white displays as yellow, making all game colors seem off.
EDIT: that solved itself by gently tapping the DB9 connector by the monitor port (not the dongle attached to the EGA card in the computer rear, nb), giving me a beautiful picture on screen:
Great job! I'm sure the pictures don't do it justice.

The in-game graphics quality is equal to those on my EGA monitor, though obviously DOS text mode is decidedly worse (8x8 vs 8x14).
The adapter fits really badly to my EGA card, as the card's connector is so far down on that the rear of the computer has to sit right by the edge of the table so the adapter can drop down behind it, as it were.
Thus, I want to buy a DB9 male-to-male cable, so the adapter can be placed somewhere else. Will any DB9 male-to-male do, or must I look for particular ones adapted for RGB signals?
