Got this I-Bus SBC today:

Intel 82430HX
MR BIOS V3.57
Build: V098I5MC
Date: 05/27/98

This is very interesting. Not only is this a new Soc7 image, but it's also the first I see a MR BIOS firmware newer than 3.46.

The question is, what new features are there? And whether it's possible to somehow transplant them to the 3.46 BIOSes.

Here's one to add to the list. I recently dumped Mr BIOS v3.43 for SiS 85C461V (SIS_40G) chipsets.

Wow, great! So unusual to see such a recent BIOS for a 486 board.

Which revision is your Asus board, btw?

I can confirm this BIOS also works with the slightly earlier SiS 85C460 chipset (tested on PAT48SA 1.30 motherboard) and is also detected with that name in the BIOS overview.

Reality continues to ruin my life.

EDIT: I re-dumped the BIOS using both Microid Research own MRFLASH utility and a TL866 (these two matched), I deleted the previous incorrect dump (only half of the content it seems and I'm attaching the new one

Maybe try to flash it in my Intel Advanced/ML Marl? 😆

Stelios - an online friend had an Octek PANTHER II v1.2 motherboard for sale with Mr. BIOS V1.0F OPTI318 6/27/91 and he kindly provided a dump - I am attaching it to the post
Motherboard is a 386SX one with Opti 82C283 chipset - that as far as I know we are still missing 😀

Not sure if it's allowed to post eBay links, but there's a Gigabyte GA-486VS board currently on sale in the UK which has a SiS471 Mr. BIOS from 1997 (there are screenshots included in the listing):

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/186770308139

If someone ends up buying this board, please dump the BIOS and share it in this thread!

Please, please, please, pretty please!?

I've sent him a message in ebay to politely ask to dump the bios. I hope it isn't too much of a trouble for him.

Does anyone know the HDD size limit on these late MR BIOS BIOSes? 😀

MR BIOSes don't have the "good old" 504MB limit issue. Maybe also no 30GB issue.
In practice, with MR BIOS, you don't worry about this any more. 😀

Well, if you have version 1.6 and later, yes. It’s all good.

If you have version 1.4x or 1.5x you might see some large drives support, but there are still limitations and you need to be wary of non standard extended drive geometries with large drives. There isn’t proper LBA28 support. I don’t think the versions older than 1.4 do large drives at all.

The BIOS on this eBay boatd is 3.43 from 1997. I haven’t tried anything larger than 80 GB, but with the Triton Mr BIOSes there are no problems with such drives.

A few things come to mind that might be worth considering. One is perhaps someone located in the UK on Vogons would buy this so the BIOS can be dumped, and second, maybe others who are interested in the BIOS would contribute something to the purchase of it? And finally, the seller wants 150 pounds but there's a reasonable chance, in my experience, they would accept much less. I personally do not have a MB using this chipset, but would contribute something just to expand the MRBIOS library.

Can't find a download for the Mr-Bios file named V097C5UQ (Gigabyte 440FX Motherboard)
It is listed by the user jheronimus in his MR BIOS catalog link above - (google spreadsheet) under Intel chipsets.
However the The Dropbox link in the spreadsheet doesn't list it to download.

I'm not clear if all the files in the spreadsheet under 'Intel chipsets' are available or do they include missing files but known to exist?.

There's nothing under "versions found", so yeah, this is an image presumed to exist, but not found yet. In this case this version was listed on MR BIOS website, there seem to be two Triton images like that. I briefly checked the sources — this doesn't seem to be an omission on my side. Same story with V09BB5AK — listed by Microid, but not included in the Evergreen files or distributed as shareware.

I suggest you try an image with the same chipset and I/O chip combo, if you have an EPROM programer and the BIOS chip isn't soldered on the motherboard.

Microid listed the I/O chip as UMC 669, but that seems like a mistake on their website. Only 8669F exists as far as I can tell, and that one is supported by at least 13 images. Is the chip on your board labeled as 8669?
