Hi folks,

So on a crappy disk here with old downloads on, is something that might be a 0.992 Beta of Winquake, the binary. Google is not very helpful, it's all "you mentioned windows and quake, there's no other explanation for that apart from wanting to know about quake 4.... " and likewise broken headed artificial stupidity disguised as a search engine that works like family feud, sorry, bzzzt, X your answer didn't appear on the board, you've got to guess one of the most popular.

So does anyone know of a file list of betas archived somewhere that I can check before I go to "lengths" to get the file off the bad disk?

Thank you most kindly, I don't actually have much use for it at the moment. I was checking in case my DL was a snapshot of something that was only up for a week and then got replaced, and hadn't been seen since. But there it is. Better keep it for reconstruction of my exact 1997 quake setup now 🤣

Edit: Defender is claiming there's a virus in 099, but not giving specifics.

EditII: Dug info out of it, says "Trojan:Script/Wacatac.B!ml" Online info conflicting, some sources say it's a frequent false positive on many VB compiled exes.

Weird, my defender's not saying anything about 0.99. Maybe the Scitech MGL library linkage is making Windows sweat because that's been bad to nvidia cards.
If you want to be extra sure for certain archived-from-an-early-time v0.99, here's one.

and yeah 1997 was a time. I wish the brief forgotten mpog rush trying to recapture subspace's lightning-in-a-bottle was backed up more.

I think this Trojan appeared on my Carmageddon 2 executable(s) as well, so it most likely is false positive
