I cant get the game working. When i run the install, it says the configuration can't be saved, and after installation the grapics look distorted. I got the game as a free download and i'm using version .72 of dosbox

Conquests of Camelot is not a freeware game and cannot be legally downloaded. It is hard to say how your downloaded version has been altered. My legitimate version installs and runs flawlessly in DOSBox.
The game's author, Jane Jensen, makes both Conquest games available for free download on her website. Sierra has never told her not to.
Actually, the Conquest games were chiefly designed by Christy Marx (with her husband helping out mostly on the artwork). Jane Jensen designed the Gabriel Knight series.

Right, Christy Marx. Anyway, Marx' website makes the games available. That was good for me when my Conquest of Camelot disks got corrupted.

Yes, but the games are still property of Sierra. Christy Marx is not the only one. Several ex-Sierra employees do this, however it still does not make it legal. But, I was not referring to the legality of it. Abandonware/warez versions of games are usually modified, cracked or ripped. This make troubleshooting them difficult, especially if the one helping has a legitimate version and cannot duplicate the problem.
For what it is worth, this one installed nicely. Unpack into D-drive, run INSTGAME C D, switch to C, run INSTALL to configure video and sound, and then run CAMELOT.
