I'm running a Windows 3.x on DOSBox and I decided to install the Voyetra SuperSAPI drivers because I'm very fond of how it sounds. I've had it installed before, but due some technical issues, I had to reboot my virtual machine and, by consequence, I lost my previous configuration files. I have no idea what to do, or if I'm doing it right, because everytime I install the SAPI driver, it replaces the Creative Music Synthesizer, but I do remember being able to install the SAPI while keeping the CMS as well. Thing is... I forgot how I did it so, the previous SYSTEM.ini I edited in order to make the SAPI work is nowhere to be found in my folder, and I do wonder if anyone in here knows how to correctly install the SAPI. I really appreciate it.

Edit: Attached here is a screenshot of my control panel. When I attempt to install the SuperSAPI driver by adding an unlisted driver, a message pops up saying that I have already installed the sb16fm.drv, and after I replace it, the Creative Music Synthesizer is simply overwritten.

So, a week later, and I tried to install the SuperSAPI driver by dragging the "SAPI!OPL.drv" file to my WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder, then including a line on My System.ini, which looks like this:

MIDI2=fmsynth.drv
Wave=sb16snd.drv
MIDI3=sb16snd.drv
AUX=sb16aux.drv
MIDI4=sb16fm.drv
MIDI5=sapi!opl.drv

The result is that I have the SuperSAPI driver installed and running on my Windows 3, but when I play a MIDI file, it doesn't sound right, like it's missing the drums or the programming isn't accurate to the original SAPI. I'll share a rendition of CANYON.MID when the SAPI driver is being used on the MIDI Player. I've been trying to run the SuperSAPI driver and I'm commenting here on this forum because I don't want to think that I'm doing all of those things by myself, it's awful to think that I once had it installed and I can't figure out how to make it run, but maybe the people in here can help me out. Thanks, and hope you have a nice day!

Update: Ok, I tried one more time to configure the SAPI driver I installed it and I knew that something was missing, so I went to my Windows folder, edited the System.ini and I added the following lines:

[sapi!opl.drv]
Port=220
Palette=C:\DRIVERS\SAPI\OPL34OP.MID
Drumchannel=10

For some reason, SAPI's drums behave oddly when the drumchannel isn't set to 10. Well, it works! Here's a sample of PASSPORT.MID

When I heard that rendition of canyon.mid, it definitely ring a bell: I clearly remember diagnosing that same problem back in the 90s. I don't remember much of the context or anything, but I do remember it had indeed to do with whether your "percussion" channel was 10 or 16 -- for some reason the program I was using would ask which channel to use.

Hi, is it related to midi mapper maybe (midimap.cfg) and instrument definitions (?) somehow?
Also, I have little experience with the SB16 Voyetra. Personally, I was a PAS16 user, which had Voyetra Super SAPI too.
