They have a much more robust categorization and search system there.
There are some problems with it.
1) Its quite new thing, so it could stop to work, in the future, because of some lost of interests or some hosting problem.
2) There is not discussion under individual section, manual score rating is probably based on 1 person ideas.
3) It seems to be a lot of work, its not just upload, all of these data, have to by filled manually, its a lot of work and some of it would be guess work on my side.
We struggle even with much simpler things like add much a possible descriptive drivers/ manual filenames, its helping a lot with finding what we are searching.

Another thing I'd like to ask. Copy of the original disc which came with Chaintech 6BTM motherboard.

I search Library for 3Dfx tech demos, i did not find almost nothing so i made nice - ~100 MB package with descriptive file names and links to demo features description+ download mirrors. BTW i tried to search library, but its seems not to work on newest Chrome, or not work by searching filenames..

Soggi made very nice page with these +demos for another cards:

I was searching for RivaTurner old version, i dont mean RivaTurner Statistics server:
https://www.anandtech.com/show/2257/6
which is now bundled with MSI Afterburner, but its predecessor for overclocking old Nvidia cards, starting with Riva TNT. It seems that nobody so war archived it, i found last version 2.24 everywhere and i found few 2.xx (RC) release cadidates, but its about all. So i hope that someone has them within their archive and can upload them, to make some old version collection for the future. I was often on some cover and drivers cds.

The oldest versions you will be able to find are v2.0 since that is when Alexey Nicolaychuk released the first "public" release which was v2.0 beta on Guru3d.
Before that not sure who he hosted his files on but they were not public.
Not exactly sure when 2.0 beta was released but V2.0 RC4.1 released 04/25/2001, it is the 8th release. There were 22 releases from V2.0 beta to V2.0 RC 12 dated Oct/Nov. 2002.
We cannot legally put them in the Library due to strict copyright rules that "no mirroring is allowed" by Guru3d who was granted the copyright with Alexey on old versions (is why hard to find)....
I do have a few older versions and might up them to archive org but will search out a few more if I can..

Ok dug around and found these old versions. The ones with * I was able to download....will up to archive org later
Note in RC15 (6-28-2004) release notes: "Version 2.0 Release Candidate 15:
Note: Windows 9x/ME is no longer officially supported since this version.
Take a note, that it doesn't mean that RivaTuner will not work under these OSes, but it does mean that it is no longer tested with them."
added: ok upped to archive org. waiting for it to finish doing it's thing....it can be found thru the advanced search > any field contains : Riva Tuner Older Versions
or click my link at end of sig. at bottom

Re: VOGONS Driver Library
, i though so, but search is silent..
Well list of demos and pass is still the same (in original post) and packages are replaced here for now, but i dont could need Mega space for something else sooner or later.

I could not upload those to Vogons library as there is no Game category, only hardware related.
but did upload them to archive org: https://archive.org/search?query=%28Windows%2 … 20Collection%29

I dont fully understand that, its traffic problem? I dunno if you have some traffic stats, i would love to see what packages are how often loaded.
I understand that you want to limit the scope, in other hand this is quite unique, hard to get and very retro computing related. You can spend multiple days trying to find all of these 200 demos on internet now, maybe even more , i did it years ago, such content is disappearing with old sites, i found some demos only on some cover cds.
I mean if space is problem? There are already some HW *.iso files, which are quite waste of space, i mean there are usually drivers, plus some generic things like directX, adobe reader, directX, some antivirus, browsers etc.. Some have bundled game / game demos too. You can edit *.iso and strip them.
There is already my DOS Demos sound card testing package too 😀 , yeah is 700 MB only
http://vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=1572
Archive.org has problem that download speed is often very slow, unless you are using torrent download and it needs people seeding it and his will never be highly seeded package.
----
Regardless, what about some compromise, at least add some info link and list of demos to download this package into library, to let people know that such package exists at all?
You can add link to both on archive.org and mega.nz (with temporary warning), maybe someone has resources to add it on his own server. I barely remember that someone add it to his server, in the past already.
Its not even easy to find on Archive.org, i searched for Windows 98 games demo collection, or by original file names, got nothing etc.. you named it: "Windows 98 Shareware Games Collection" .. Well shareware was more Dos era name, Win9x even named shareware rarely if at all. I had to search this thread history to actually find the link. Good news is that is still online and if im not wrong its actually bigger packages than on mega - 200 vs 325 demos, did some update, second bigger relase if my memory serves.

I edited some info at archive org to make it easier to find using the Demo term. General search of Windows 98 Demo now shows them. General search of Windows 98 Demo Games shows shows them.
As for the file names: you password protected them iirc so had to extract and create new archives not passworded, and choose a different name so not confused with the passworded ones on my computer.
You are asking to add about 24Gb to a server that already has 80Gb of files. That is 30% of the current total of hardware files, and your files are not hardware related. That would require Squallstrifes OK.
Sorry I cannot add them or even a link to them with out his approval for multiple reasons, one is there may be some that are copyright protected against mirroring, linking, etc...
I understand you spent time collecting them but many of us have archives not in the library that also could create issues with hosting them publicly.

Ok if you are limited to 80GB. You can remove or change password fine, copy it change it, expand etc, just keep credits..
Im also not sure, if is better to have half of pack in directories and has as single file installers in root folder. Single *.exe installers are more sexy, i could do additional packaging all directories into *.exe, but some old machine are not fast and it would add like few minutes to installing during.
I guess that someone simply could make script, which will move games into their own directories, just using filanes and directory name and remove .exe / .msi from it, from someone skilled t would be piece of cake, currently my batch scripting skills are quite rusty, i have short memory.
I used archives because i already have to split the archive and 7zip still running on everything Win NT+. Total commander, FreeCommander etc has open archives extracting whole package.
There is even possibility that some companies like EA, would get Nintendo like and would be trying even get old demos down, just because their lawyers team has nothing better to do. They could see that could make a bit more money on GoG or Steam, if these demos would not be available. Demos / sharewares age was great.

When i click on real download you get 404, i tried like 10 random DOS/Win9x/WinNT links and all 10 down.
I personally failing in another task im trying to find English manual for Socket A MSI MSI-746F-Ultra aka MSI-6717, everywhere is only Japanese manual, it was sold in Europe locally too, so not Japanese manual has to exists, my guess that during some MSI web web data migration someone uploaded Japanese instead of English version.
