I have this in a laptop that I would like to use for Windows 3.1. It works with the Microsoft SVGA driver at 256 colors, but I would like the option of more colors, if possible. I would assume that there is no GDI acceleration with this generic driver as well.

That's interesting. The drivers say that they support 93XX, but I get solid colors instead. It might not be compatible with the 9388 in my laptops.

The VESA.ZIP I found from that list fixed some corruption issues I was having though with PC Player Benchmark at 640x480. Thanks for that.

Those are video capture drivers. Not video card drivers. 😀

Bumping this thread. Has anyone ever come across this driver (if it even exists).

It's from an NEC Versa SX (not the SXi).

nevermind, it's the 95 driver.

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

I have the Windows 95 driver, thank you. Maybe there never was a Windows 3.1 driver.

It sure looks there never was.

Considering there is some linux/X support, I guess someone knowledgeable in windows 3.x drivers and programming might be able to create one.

From that idealine site try "UH68-WIN.ZIP".

There is a slightly newer package (UH6.9(06)) here: https://driverscollection.com/?file_id=17917

The difference is in the "TVBIOS16.DL_" file.

The drivers for the Cyber9385 don't work with the 9388, unfortunately.

These say that they're for the ProVidia. I wonder if they will work with my Cyber9388? Apparently there are two different monikers by Trident with the same 9388 model number

ProVidia is just a continuation of the TGUI line, basically a rebrand. I just looked up Cyber9388 and it is apparently based on the 3DImage line. If that doesn't have Windows 3.1 drivers, then the 9388 wouldn't either.

EDIT:

This is one odd model. There are 3.1 drivers for 3DImage but no mention of 9388. I can't tell if it's related to Cyber9382/5 and the desktop 94xx/96xx line, or is some variant of 3DImage.

EDIT 2:

Apparently it IS 3D capable: What good games can a Pentium II MMX @ 233MHz + Trident Cyber9388 run and can't run?
Theoretically that means it's from the 3DImage family. Try that driver. If it complains about the model being wrong, then I suppose someone has to modify it to bypass the check.
