Hello everyone,

I've got this NE2000 compatible RTL8019AS ISA card working in my 486 setup, both DOS (NE2000 + mTCP), and WFW3.11 (plain TCP stack by MS with Realtek's drivers).

No matter how I tweak the TCP stack (DHCP, static IP, DNS YES/NO, WINS YES/NO), when I shut down wfw 3.11 the card keeps on blinking trying to find a LAN cable to be attached. If I don't attach anything it just stays there forever, never returning to DOS prompt. If I just briefly attach the LAN cable, it detects carrier, and it's happy: DOS prompt back again.

I suppose this is a known issue, but I can't find any reference about it. Anyone with similar experiences?

Thanks for sharing.

try starting windows by typing
win /n
This was the common way to start windows when not connected to the network, otherwise it takes forever to start.
Don't remember exiting taking longer if you weren't connected, may have simply never noticed.

I don't have any issues while starting as I've disabled DHCP and put a static IP address instead...but I'll give this a try, might be a breaker for the shut down as well 😀

Just a note here: it's not that it's taking "forever" to get back to DOS once I shut it down: it just won't, ever.

Got some foggy recollection of the DOS PnP tool letting you turn media autosensing on or off, so dunno if flipping that the other way will help.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

I've just checked and the realtek utility doesn't allow to disable auto sense.
It seems like this is a wfw3.11 thing as ne2000.com isn't starting any blinking when loaded, whilst when starting wfw3.11 it does. I can't find any option in wfw3.11 to disable such behaviour. Pretty odd.

Might have to go digging in ini files looking for a timeout option to set shorter like to a minute or something.
