hello all

so i connected seagate stt220000a tape drive under winxpsp3
i see it in device manager but no icon in disk and drive window!

and before buying a tape media cartridge to test how it works (i dont have one)

do i need special drivers? or maybe icon will appear when i will insert tape?
will drive work with travan tr7 40gb tape cartridge?

thank you

The drive uses TR5 10Gb tapes. Manual: http://www.bitsavers.org/pdf/seagate/tape/100 … ual_Mar1998.pdf
Those tape drives were designed to run under Win9x, Win2000 and NT and used Veritas Backup Exec.
Suggest you look for VERITAS Backup Exec Desktop Pro Edition v4.5a which is from year 2000 and came with some Seagate tape drives...

thanks for reply

yes. i found that manual too but i was confused because it says stt20000a manual not stt220000a. but now i did more research and probably additional "2" is just for different brands. and yes i need tr5 tape. originally i though tapes cartridges are compatible just more or less tape. but not! tr7 is different in size dimensions too.

thanks
