For anyone who wrote MS-DOS device drivers: The Device Driver Header (DDH) ddh_attribute field specifies device driver characteristics. One of them is IBM format vs non-IBM format block device. What is the functional difference?

The attachment ddh_attribute.png is no longer available

Sorry no help here,
Just adding a link to the pdf from which you posted an excerpt

http://www.bitsavers.org/pdf/microsoft/msdos_ … s_in_C_1990.pdf

though maybe if the link is found to be not suitable due to some rights issues, the title
Adams - Writing DOS Device Drivers in C (1990)
might be more suitable.

Interesting though.

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

Block device = storage.

LBA =logical block addressing instead of cylinders heads sectors. Ask for the block and the hdd figures out how to fetch it.

IBM most likely =IBM initialised/formatted
