Found this PS/2 Model 55 SX for sale very cheap so I bought it.
The Dallas battery was dead so I done the mod with CR battery.
Surprisingly the Mitshubishi floppy drive works great so no issues here, so I was able to boot with the reference disk to setup the system.
The 80mb HD was not booting and I noticed some corrosion in the caps, so decided to try replace them.
The weird part is that, after doing the auto config with the reference disk it still does not boot to C drive and the system does not throw any errors. It goes to the IBM basic terminal.
So I tried to boot using a msdos boot disk and for my surprise I am able to detect the HD and access C, I can see the files and even run the windows 3.1. The HD seems to work fine after booting with the dos boot disk.
Am I missing something? Or could it be that the HD is somehow faulty?
