Several common models are trained on generally-square images, so going to widescreen layout often skews their output (especially for 'realistic' prompts), but I found that it can generate some interesting output if you are seeking more abstract compositions.

Well, I finally got some more I liked, but not from Leonardo.Ai. I got it from over on "NightCafe". My wife uses it and got me to sign up. Kinda cool.

I've been making quite a few images going down this AI rabbit hole. 😜

Legs, arms, and fingers are huge problems for AI, and I'm not 100% sure why. I mean, that's simple established math.

Other scenes, it excels. I made a "Happy Old PC" on Leonardo I really like. Entered it in a contest.

In fact, you can drop me some votes if you feel generous, I'm doing pretty good! Ends later today. 😜

AI imagery gives whole to meanings to phrases like "Use you imagination" and "fever dream". 😜

Here are a couple more images I got that I liked.

"Classic Geek" and "Old Intel Chip". Funny how it takes "old" literally. 😀

Still, cool looking none the less.

oooh good idea , these cpu renders, i like the result.
I also gave it a try, with leonardo AI (in flowstate), for an AMD 486 cpu on a mainboard.
Interesting results !

Addressing the problems of water cooling before it was even a thing. AMD was truly ahead of the game! 😜

Also, I managed to win 100 more credits to play with and started working on some images for use on my blog over at Night Cafe.

I'm really having too much fun with this. 😀

cool idea to generate AI Retro Wallapers. I would prefer brands like "old Microsoft Logo", old "Windows/Gem/Geoworks/MS-Dos/PC-Dos/DR-Dos"
machine related "AST-Computer, Schneider, Compaq, IBM, gateway, ..." and famous gfx- standards/chips mda, cga, ega, vga, TSENG, ATI, and
CPU/FPU related 8088 / 8086 / 80286 / 80386 / 80486 / Pentium I... you name it.

Formats should also Retro-related: 720x348 mono, 640x350 ega / 640x480 ...

Retro-Gamer 😀 ...on different machines

Sadly, the ones I use struggle with those sorts of specific. You can get them to pull logos and such, but naming specific machines or pieces of software seems to be very hit and miss, if it has any effect at all. Though, I'm sure some other models do better than what I'm using. Heck, they struggle to get simple text and numbers right at times.

Here are a few good example I managed to get out of it over the past few days. I really like the "Steampunk AMD Processor".

I've also trained my own model to be good with "Circuits and Tubes" that I can use for my blog and other online stuff, and you can see some of those results as well. Nixie style tubes, neon, and just general vacuum tubes.

Well, I tried to get it to render old "magazine" style photos of retro systems...

It really struggles with some basic concepts, after a few hours of trial and error, and countless failures, these are the best 4 I managed to get. I guess they, somewhat, look the part. 😜

Concepts like a QWERTY keyboard, 4:3 or "square" CRT monitor (it tends to go wider), and getting any sort of image on the screen seem to really trip AI models up. And of course, so does text, but some are better than others.

Apologies for the dumb question, but what is the purpose, exactly, of producing these AI images which, for the most part, look decidedly fake? Aren't there public domain photographs of actual vintage hardware available?
