Hi, I'm having trouble running Windows 2.03 on a PC10 (split board model).
Windows 2 hangs directly after splash screen animation, reset via keyboard nolonger works.
It has a V20 processor, BIOS 2.05, XT-IDE card, Aztech SB clone, UMB card, 640KB RAM, PVGA1A card, MS Mouse on COM1.
I tried MS-DOS 6.22 with SETVER and real IBM PC-DOS 3.30, but no vail.
Checkit v3 mentions no issues, except that it says IRQ2 for VGA being active.
Funnily, Windows 1.03 runs on same PC10 in CGA mode (was an old test Installation).
I'm surprised by this issue, because I never saw this before.
The usual issue was the DOS version, but that's not the problem here.
My Nixdorf PC with V20, on-board CGA, MS Mouse on COM1 and XT-IDE card does run Windows 2.x no issues (also runs fine on Hercules monitor).
Also, Windows 3.0 (Real-Mode) runs just fine on both PCs no problem.
Other VGA titles run as expected, except for, err, Marble Cooking. ;)
The keyboard is dead in main menu; but the game needs an AT, anyway.
Surprinsingly, Mad Paradox (old JRPG) runs on same PC10.
So that's why I ask you for your help. If (when) you have time.
Please run any version of Windows 2.x on a Commodore PC and write back.
Maybe it's a BIOS incompatibility or a hardware conflict, not sure.
Thanks in advance.
