With the sound issues I've been having on this thread Re: SB16 connected to MIDI through gameport I realized that I actually already had a spare sound card but I could not get it working in DOS mode with the computer I bought it for that I no longer have.

It is this PCI card, CT4730 described in the auction as a Sound Blaster 16 PCI card.

I found this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/retrobattlestations/ … d_card_drivers/

This talks about needing to know the chip type for proper drivers and I have no clue where that is at on the chip. Can I get help locating the right drivers? I know there are tons of resources on the site, but it's overwhelming to me at times.

I am hoping that I can use this to solve my simultaneous MT-32/digital sound issues, but don't know if it will work at all or well in DOS mode, I also have a sound blaster live card in my XP computer that I can try to swap over... (just exhausting my options before spending more money on this) but also need to find the right drivers for it, and also if it doesn't work well or at all in DOS mode that's going to be a bit disappointing but most games can be ran through windows 98. The sound blaster live sounds like garbage in DOS mode, though.

I have that exact model. It's a Sound Blaster PCI64.

It has an EV1938 chip. Which used to be Ensoniq before Creative bought them out.

It's been a while since I had it installed in a machine, but I don't remember it having any dedicated DOS drivers.
