Hello everybody. I have got a few problems with MM4 and 5. I just finished MM3 with VDMS. It worked great, but that's not the case with the other 2. I use xp. In MM4 the game freezes when I try to click on warrior or adventures in the beginning when you create characters. If I close down the game and restart it, I can load the game that just froze. I have the same problem when using dosbox.
And when I visit the tavern and click on "sign in" "quit" the game freeze.

The problem with MM5 is just that the game is so freaking slow, lagging like hell.

Anyone that knows how to fix these things?

This is strange. When I play the game in win95 mode, I get no music, but I can hear voices in the tavern. When I try to use these settings with VMDS, I get sound everywhere, but when I visit the tavern, the game freezes...

Same problem when using dosbox..

Tried the game on my old p200 with win98. Same freeze error there too.

Very frustating. I really wanna play mm4 and 5 😒

If you are getting the same problem with and without DosBox, it seems likely that there may be a problem with the game itself.

Running it in XP and running it in DosBox (the equivalent of running it with DOS5) should not produce the same kind of problems. Can you re-install the title from a known, good source (CD/Floppy)?

Try running it with "No Sound" or speaker sound. If it still "lags", then you may well have a "Hates NT" game.

This sounds very much like what you have is a corrupted game.

Maybe it is so, but I found out that the game runs well if I turn off the ingame speech sound. The game did save in the beginning, likely at the same time as it froze, so I am able to continue to play with the pre-made characters.

Thx for the replay though.

Uhh, you DO have a legit copy of it, don't you?

Yes, it’s my fault.

Hrrmm. That sounds much like the problem with "Realms of Arkania: Star Trail", where the audio portion simply wouldn't work properly in NT (before Mok's fix).

What doesn't make sense to me is that it would do the same thing in DosBox. I have this/these games in storage, but it may be a while before I get a chance to test/troubleshoot them. Unless someone else can jump in, I'm afraid this is going on the "back-burner" (for me).
