Hi. I have win 3.11 wfw and i want to set a big 1024x768 16bit color wallpaper (BMP).But i cant - system says its too big to fit to memory. Really? I have 64MB RAM.

Main "PC":
----------
Mac Pro Xeon 2x 3GHz (Quad), 12GB RAM, MacOS 10.15, Radeon HD 5770

Retro:
-----
Apple Macintosh Quadra 650, 68040 33MHz, 64MB RAM, Mac OS 8.1
PC (clone): Intel 80486 DX2 66MHz, 64MB RAM, Windows 3.11 WfW, ATI Rage2

Could be the decision to reject is based in video driver and memory sizes, not just system ram?
Equally possible the error message doesn't represent the actual issue , and the real problem is not the image size in bytes but image's color depth.

Try limiting the amount of memory available to Windows in your system's BIOS. This may sound funny, but I heard here before about DOS games not working properly with too much memory. Also, you can use a RAM drive such as XMSDSK to eat much of your system's memory. You can find XMSDSK at https://dosprograms.info.tt/indexall.htm#utils.

I have 1024x768x 24bit resolution. And mach64 driver with ati rage 2, 4MB card. Windows 3.1 works good its stable. I just want wallpaper. 😁 i will try the xmsdsk
