Playing the Windows version of Riven (5 CD version, patched) and I've run into an annoying issue with the in-game book. When you click on a page to turn, 90% of the time it will turn two pages rather than one as expected. This makes it extremely difficult to read the book, forcing you to click back and forth repeatedly until the issue doesn't occur.

I tried using a script to create a hotkey for the left mouse click. Surprisingly, using a keyboard key to click on the pages reduces the frequency of the issue by quite a lot - only occurs 10% of the time now.

What's the deal? There are a few reports of the problem online, but no real solutions. I assume this doesn't happen in Windows 95 (currently using XP) but I can't test myself.

I fed my script into ChatGPT. It suggested that I try changing the 'click' command to a 'sendInput' command. It actually worked. Now, with this script running, I can Ctrl+C "click" the book pages and they turn properly every time. I'd still be interested in a proper fix without using a script but I'm happy enough with this solution. If anyone else is interested, the script is attached. Just run the .exe and you're good to go (made this in Windows XP 32-bit so I don't know if it'll work on 64-bit Windows').

I haven't tried it myself, but reports online are that the issue does not occur with ScummVM.

Well, this is unfortunate. I'm now noticing that the left and right audio channels appear to be swapped. Pretty noticeable during the intro when the character walks into frame. No idea how to fix this. Definitely not my hardware - everything checks out ok and the left and right channels are proper in other games.

Still testing the audio problem. I've determined that the channels are only swapped for movies. Ambience is unaffected which leads me to believe it has something to do with QuickTime's audio implementation. There aren't any settings in QuickTime that let me simply reverse the left and right channels. Tried testing a newer version of QuickTime, but the game doesn't launch unless the version on the CD is installed.
