Hi there,

it's amazing how much better the Covox Speech Thing sounds, compared to the Disney Sound Source. So i took a look into the driver and forced the driver to always be resident regardless of detection. This allows the sound routines to otherwise play on the Covox Speech Thing, with FAR FAR better quality than the DSS can do. Driver is for the CD version.

Rename the file to COM extension, and place it on your game directory. Of course, always back up your original.

Seems like Infogrames used the same driver for Alone in the Dark 2 (Floppy), Alone in the Dark 2 (CD version) and Alone in the Dark 3 (CD). So this patched driver will work in all.

If you're wondering about Alone in the Dark 1 (Floppy), i can't do anything about it, sound routines for the various cards are probably buried and packed in one of the game files. Sadly, because the Floppy version of the first game had the arguably superior FM soundtrack that you can't hear in the CD version.
