Is it possible to enable sound fonts to sound blaster 16 on win95/win98 ?
If it is possible, I just use the creative soundfont tool, load the font and launch the game for example duke3d from the windows ?

You need to install a Wave Blaster compatible daughterboard (wavetable) on your SB16. However, there are different models of SB16 and not all of them have wavetable connectors.
If you want a comparable soundfont experience, you can look at WavetablePi.

SoundFonts on a SB16? No.
But at least it is possible to do that with AWE sound cards (SB16 with EMU8K chip onboard) provided that they have enough RAM to load some decent SF2 SoundFonts.

This is not entirely true. For Win9x Creative Labs released SB16 drivers for cards (Sound Blaster 16 WavEffects: CT4170, CT4171, CT4173) that integrated Creative WaveSynth (licensed from Seer Systems) that was basically a fully software based Soundfont synth.

BTW, the driver works with any SB16 (even emulated) but has an annoying tendency to prevent installation because the ' Creative WaveSynth driver needs at least a Pentium 133 or K5 processor". This check can be patched real-time.

I stand corrected. To be honest, I completely forgot about the WaveSynth software until now. 😜
good information, thank you! I have sound blaster 16 (ct 2290) so I keep this machine fm audio only then 😀
