Ok so I was the guy who once tried to make a Dell Dimension 3000 build work as a XP rig. Fortunately with some sound advice from the members of this forum I realized that if you want to easily get the premium XP experience, go with more modern inexpensive components.
MSI Z-77 G45 LGA1155 ( changed it from the Asus one as it had a bad RAM slot)
Intel Core i7-3770(an upgrade from the i5)
32 GB RAM(upgraded for running Win 10 and Mint)
512 GB SATA SSD/256 GB SATA SSD/256 GB SATA SSD/128 GB SATA SSD
MSI 980ti(finally an upgrade from the 960 with the modified drivers)
X-Fi Titanium SB 0880 (finally a great X-Fi card though it was not cheap)
Motherboard
Video
Sound
The best part was the entire rig costs around 150 bucks(got the entire ram,cpu and mobo in 1 deal ).
Sadly this is no longer true but nostalgia can make you fork out money as if there is no tomorrow.
I can triple boot with XP, Win 10 and Linux Mint but I mainly use it for the XP gaming nostalgia trip. Honestly, after the nightmare that was the Dimension 3000 build(turned parts of it to a Win 98 build) this was some much needed relief.
Edit: Ok so the rig is pretty expensive now. Also updated the the title. However this is WAAAY cheaper than what you have to shell out for a retro voodoo build. Probably I had to fork out 300-350 dollars for everything. Also I would like to thank Joseph Joestar(for his build which I took as an inspiration), Phil(of YT fame), chinny22 and also the many helpful members of this forum.
