So I received a PC MIDI Card from Serdashop and get no music. I have dos 6.22. Simple setup. Midi out from card to Midi in on the back of a SC-55. Then output from Sc-55 to speakers.

I ran the mqdiag program and the card is detected with default 330, irq 2.

I moved the card to another ISA slot and nothing. Any suggestions?

BTW, the SC-55 works fine with my picogus.

Solved. The Midi out cable what comes with the picogus only works with the picogus. I changes cables and its working now. I ASSumed midi cables where all wired the same.

That's an interesting tidbit. I would have made the same assumption as you.

The MIDI output port uses the MIDI TRS "Type A" standard (note that the TRS cables that come with the Orpheus and PCMIDI cards from PCMIDI.eu are "Type B" and will not work on PicoGUS).

To give a little background, when I designed the MIDI out port on the PicoGUS I went with Type A because that's what the MIDI Manufacturers Association officially recommends. If I knew at the time that the PCMIDI cards used Type B, I would have gone with that instead.

It's just T-568A vs T-568B all over again. US uses A, Europe uses B.
